National and Regional Community Partner Forums

Announcing the 2015 Regional Community Partner Forums on Community-Engaged Research

Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) and the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service (CCHERS) obtained NIH R13 funding for three successful National Community Partner Forums on Community-Engaged Health Disparities Research held in 2011 in Boston, in 2012 in Washington DC and in 2014 in Chicago. Through a national call for applications and rigorous peer review process, a diverse group of over 200 community partners from across the country have come together through these forums to deepen the knowledge and skills they need to successfully conduct community-engaged health disparities research, negotiate community-academic research partnerships and serve in leadership roles. Uniquely designed “by and for” community partners, the forums have built an ongoing network for community partner professional development and peer support.

In April 2014, CCPH and the Community Network for Research Equity & Impact co-sponsored the 3rd National Community Partner Forum on Community-Engaged Research. Funding for the forum was made possible (in part) by 1 R13 MD008673-01 from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities awarded to Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) and the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service (CCHERS). Space for the forum opening reception was generously provided by The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

In December 2012, CCPH and CCHERS co-sponsored the 2nd National Community Partner Forum in Washington, DC. Funding for the forum is made possible (in part) by 1R13MD007569-01 from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. Generous scholarship support was provided by the University of Maryland School of Public Health, Maryland Institute for Applied Environmental Health, Program on Community Engagement, Environmental Justice, and Health; the Connecticut Health Foundation; and CCPH’s Bobby Gottlieb Scholarship Fund.
